Minister's Corner

So many things we do are reactions to a need or an opportunity, with little thought about the reason behind our choice. We often don’t have time to think the matter through, and we sometimes just don’t want to apply the mental energy required for rational thought. If we have been trained in a Christian environment or find ourselves surrounded by good people, these quick reactions often work out well for us, and we blunder into our next problem without pausing to consider if we made the right decision or not. Assessment has become a buzz word in education. The student is tested when he enters a program of study and then later when he exits the program. If the student has learned what the school promised, then the assessment will show the success. If the assessment shows little benefit, then the curriculum, the environment, and the instructors are evaluated to see what is lacking in the educational program. The process is stressful but allows those responsible to consider the reasons for what they do and test the validity of those assumptions.
